Desperately seeking C/conservative

I wasn't a frequent commenter at Olaf's blog, but I was always a reader, and with his departure, the right flank of my reading list is decidedly smaller. Oh, sure, I've still got Political Staples and Waking Up On Planet X, and I'm not giving them up, but Greg's is more of a "daily news"-style blog, and Candace doesn't post nearly enough.

Any suggestions for additions? Specifically, I'm looking for a capital-or-small-C conservative who writes well, who thinks with his or her head instead of with his or her fingers, who makes me think, who's respectful of opinions other than his or her own, whose raison d'être for blogging isn't blind partisanship, and who's never used the word 'moonbat' except in a quote from someone else. Surely there must be at least one more of those?

I've got a few listed over at my place, but they don't meet all of your terms and conditions. Daimnation! is pretty good, though, although the commenters are generally something else. David Thompson objects to being called right-wing--he's a right-wing liberal of the old Encounter Magazine variety, and he runs a really intelligent blog with generally really intelligent commenters. I like Dust My Broom because Darcey Jerrom knows what he's talking about on Native issues. Bob Tarantino doesn't post enough, but he's smart, and Jay Currie, and unabashed libertarian, is worth a read too. I've still got Kate up because her blog is well-done and provocative and she's a member of MENSA and all, but I'm going a little sour on it recently, after her expressed sympathy for neo-nazi politicians in Belgium. and her increasing hatred for Native people. Check the others out, though.

I keep and feed my left-wing readers on mine. (I'm a recovering leftist, so I understand where most of 'em are coming from.)

But sometimes I go without posting on politics for a while.

I know a few reasonable centrist to right of centre bloggers, some of whom are excellent writers:

Joseph Lavoie (josephlavoie.com)
Aaron Lee Wudrick
Bruce Stewart (radicaltory.blogspot.com)
John Reynolds is good but obsessed with global warming denial
Matt of a step to the right

And finally I'm a pretty centrist conservative and also a member of the non-partisan and blogging tories aggregate. Always welcome debate and discussion with others.

Sounds like a tall order, IP.

Good Luck on that . . . .

I'm so glad you're going to the trouble of hunting down Olaf-replacements. I miss him too, and this means I can continue to simply refer to your blog for a list of other quality political blogs to read, rather than going to trouble of building up my own list. :P

To IP, the gold standard in canadian political blogrolls!

Everybody,

Thanks for all the tips--I'll check them out!

I'd recommend Unambiguously Ambidextrous at http://unambig.blogspot.com/. He's a Conservative supporter, but he doesn't buy into the party line all the time. His posts have been interesting, and I've been quite happy to add him to the BANPC.
