My biggest disappointment of the night

...is the fact that the Canadian political blogosphere seems to have collectively learned how to spell 'by-election'. No more giggles for me! Sniff.

Will you guys at least promise to throw me the occasional 'literally' bone? Pretty please?

There's nothing wrong with using "literally" in a figurative sense. All words can be used figuratively. Metaphors wouldn't work otherwise.

Of course there isn't! If nobody ever did that, the world would lose one of its best English-language funnies!

I'm clinging to it rather desperately tonight, since I seem to have lost my beloved 'bi-election' snickers...
