My truest deepest hope is that a coalition not only forms but works!

I'll be keeping my eyes on your posts as this develops :)Rick Grimmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05944021605952996923noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12426618.post-54302766657651688492008-12-01T12:14:00.000-07:002008-12-01T12:14:00.000-07:00I'm more optimistic about a coalition. It's hard to see it any worse than the Conservative government, and the Liberals' leaderless state will sideline them at first.

Even later on, the presence of a detailed accord, worked out in advance, gives the government an agenda to work from. This would likely provide much more coherence than the divided Liberals or inexperienced NDP could provide alone.

For the NDP, having cabinet seats gives them a legitimacy they've never had before, while being a junior partner prevents them from making the silly inexperienced mistakes they made in Ontario in the 1990s. This may be the chance of a lifetime for them.Tyronehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04517491466629482995noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12426618.post-85389154652930435092008-12-01T11:07:00.000-07:002008-12-01T11:07:00.000-07:00The golden rule of leading a minority government: ...The golden rule of leading a minority government: You have to come up with compromises that people outside of your own party will vote for.

If we could get that through our heads, then I'd be for all-minorities, all the time.Jacques Beau Verthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16450947780950412676noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12426618.post-84731763099034443062008-12-01T09:33:00.000-07:002008-12-01T09:33:00.000-07:00I like how you linked all this turmoil retrospecti...I like how you linked all this turmoil retrospectively to the Liberals past "rubber stamping."
